About Us

The Huntington Sanitary Board (HSB) provides sanitary sewer services to the greater Huntington community. Our job is to collect and treat all wastewater within our service areas.

We maintain an estimated 340 miles of sewers, some of which can be up to 72 inches in diameter, and many of which are more than 100 years old. The HSB also has 44 sewage pumping stations, 131 individual grinder pump stations, and a wastewater treatment plant that has an average flow of 13 million gallons a day.

We service not just the city of Huntington but also the surrounding communities (more than 27,700 customers in total!), making the Sanitary Board responsible for the largest wastewater collection and treatment systems in the state of West Virginia.
